Lighting systems fluorescent lamp housings
Product description

Our company offers a modern lighting system using the NEON 1X36W−IP65 housings designed for fluorescent lamps that enable light intensity adjustment of standard linear fluorescent lamps of 36W (of length 1200mm (T8) with a G13 holder).

An investment in modern lighting system based on fluorescent lamp housings with regulation of light intensity is more expensive than in case of investment in more traditional bulb system. However, the cost pays for itself very fast by savings in electricity consumption during the breeding process. In order to provide the same light intensity by means of fluorescent lamp housings as in case of incandescent lighting there is 6 times less  electrical power needed. This is due to the fact that in incandescent lighting only about 15% of received electricity is transformed into light (the rest of the electricity is mainly changed into heat). While in case of fluorescent lamps about 85% of energy is changed into light. Additionally, reduction of light  intensity also provides reduction of power consumption by the housing

An example

In order to illuminate a poultry house, 120x18m in size (surface 2160 sq.m) there are required about 230 bulbs of 60W each (bulbs of larger power are not produced). Total power of incandescent lighting is: 13,8 kW. In case of usage of fluorescent lamps with regulation of light intensity NEON 1X36W−IP65  only 63 housings are needed of total power consumption about 2,3 kW.

The JOTAFAN lighting system provides better production results. Thanks to the regulation of light intensity a breeder can provide the level of lighting suitable for birds age. When the light intensity is suitable then not only daily growth but also feed consumption is better. The poultry mortality is lower because birds are calmer when there is proper light intensity.

Because of the way of fluorescent lamp supply and a hermetic housing there are also savings in the exchange of fluorescent lamps into new ones. The durability and long service life of fluorescent lamps is much longer than ordinary light bulbs. It reduces the costs of system maintenance and saves time.

Lamps are equipped with a 0..10V input of signal control and they can be connected to any controller with a 0..10V output. That is why there is no need to use an additional dimmer (in case when the 0..10V output is not efficient there is a possibility to use Module 010-010, a transducer produced by our company, that is designed for strengthening 0..10V signal). Our offer also includes the JOTAFAN DUO−TIMER−010 regulator which apart from manual regulation of lamp intensity of fluorescent lamps enables automatic realization of light cycles programmed by the user. It carries out the function of ‘sunrises and sunsets’, that is slow brightening and dimming of light during the change of a cycle (from lighting up to the break and vice-versa) what provides birds better and more natural well-being (better welfare of animals).

The material (polycarbonate) and special construction of a housing’s diffuser provide its long service life in poultry house conditions and regular distribution of light intensity above the bedding surface. The housings are waterproof (IP 65) so there is no need to worry  about their moisture during cleaning and disinfection of a poultry house.

If the fluorescent lamp housings are mounted at 3,5m height above the bedding it is assumed that depending on kind of breeding 1 housing is sufficient for illuminating:

  • about 40m2 of broiler breeding (fattening) (from 2 to 6 lx),
  • about 30m2 of breeding the reproductive flocks (from 4 to 100 lx).

When deciding about the number of housings one should also take into account construction elements and equipment of a poultry house (pillars, nests for hen, etc.).

The most common way of housings arrangement is their assembly in rows with long axis of a housing along the hen house. A cable is then laid through housings. It is recommended that (because of reliable operation of housings) supplying cables of each of rows were delivered to the switchgear and connected parallel. In case of the abovementioned henhouse there will be installed 63 housings, evenly arranged in three rows with 21 housings each. The rows are arranged within 3m, 9m and 15m from the side wall of the building.

In order to improve the light intensity adjustment the rows of housings can be hung similarly to the installation of feeding and watering, on a movable construction, and they can be raised or lowered according to needs.
